Israel Soccer Coach Ben Shimon Names Starting Lineup Against Ireland

Israel national soccer team coach Ran Ben Shimon informed his players of the starting lineup for Sunday's Nations League match against Ireland. The team is looking to rebound from a disappointing 2-1 loss to Austria in their previous game.

Ben Shimon is making three changes to the starting eleven. Raz Shlomo will replace Idan Nachmias in defense, Gabi Kaniovsky will come in for Dor Peretz in midfield, and Dor Turgeman will start up front instead of the suspended Sayed Abu Farhi. Daniel Peretz will remain in goal, with a defense of Roy Revivo, Nikita Stoyanov, Guy Mizrahi, and Raz Shlomo. The midfield will consist of Eliel Peretz, Oscar Gloukh, and Gabi Kaniovsky, while the attack will feature Manor Solomon and Anan Khalaili flanking Dor Turgeman.

Addressing the team, Ben Shimon highlighted the physical and direct style of the Irish, contrasting it with Austria's possession-based approach. He also urged his players not to be discouraged by external comparisons to past Israeli national teams, emphasizing their control over the team's identity and future.

"Don't let the outside noise compare you to past Israeli teams," Ben Shimon told his players. "Only you will determine the identity of this team. You are the ones who will decide what happens with this team, without any comparisons. We need to improve things tactically, not mentally, because mentally you are teaching us how to behave and act. The tactical obligation is ours, to make the right decisions, improve game intelligence, and find good solutions."
