Jerusalem Urban Renewal Project Surpasses 70% Signature Threshold

A significant urban renewal project in Jerusalem's historic Haredi neighborhood of Gush 80 has reached a key milestone, surpassing the 70% signature threshold among property rights holders. The project, located at the intersection of Chana and Elkana streets, is being advanced by real estate companies Atidore and Urbanah.

Achieving this level of agreement allows for the continued planning process with the relevant authorities. The companies are actively working to secure the participation of remaining rights holders to foster broad consensus. The project is also expected to expand to include adjacent buildings.

A notable breakthrough has also been made with the establishment of a binding agreement with the administration of the "Kochav Yaakov" Tshebin Yeshiva, situated near the planned development. This agreement clarifies principles regarding commercial spaces within the project, ensuring the preservation of the yeshiva's quiet environment.

Rabbi Binyamin Meltzer, a partner at Atidore, led extensive negotiations with the yeshiva's administration for over six months to finalize the mutually acceptable framework. The collaboration between Atidore and Urbanah aims to create a modern residential project with high construction standards, while maintaining transparent dealings with rights holders and the existing community. The Union for Urban Renewal is assisting with resident management and initiative.

Company representatives stated that reaching the 70% mark is a central milestone and that the understanding with the yeshiva demonstrates a commitment to direct dialogue, respect for the neighborhood's character, and responsible planning.
