Knesset member and Constitution, Law and Justice Committee chair Simcha Rothman sharply criticized Supreme Court President Yitzhak Amit on Monday, amid hearings on petitions challenging changes to the Judicial Selection Committee.
Speaking on Kan News radio’s "BeHalfi HaYom," Rothman said, "Yitzhak Amit is insolent and lacks self-awareness." He added, "He is an extreme-left politician. He, Daphne Barak-Erez, and unfortunately also Solberg have no integrity."
Rothman argued that the justices are judging issues that affect themselves. "They sit and discuss matters of their own," he said, adding that "some of the Supreme Court justices are full-fledged politicians."
The comments came as debate continues over the overhaul of the committee that selects judges, a dispute now before the courts.
