Knesset Committee Chair Accuses Supreme Court Justice of Enabling Terror Supporters

Simcha Rothman, chairman of the Knesset's Constitution, Law and Justice Committee, stated on Wednesday that the upcoming Knesset will likely include supporters of terrorism, attributing this to Supreme Court Justice Yitzhak Amit. Speaking on Radio Galai Israel, Rothman claimed that the Supreme Court has repeatedly approved candidates and lists associated with terrorism for Knesset membership in the past. He expressed hope that he is mistaken but believes terror supporters will enter the next Knesset "courtesy of Yitzhak Amit."

Rothman announced that the "Bochrim B'Chaim" (Choosing Life) forum will present information during an upcoming election committee hearing to disqualify Arab candidates and parties. He anticipates that Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara will argue for their inclusion in the next Knesset, asserting that her reasoning will be political rather than legal.

Earlier in the week, the Likud party announced its intention to seek the disqualification of the Ra'am party and the Joint List. A Likud statement declared that the Knesset has no place for those who harm IDF soldiers and are unable to label Hamas and Hezbollah as terrorist organizations.
