Israeli Diplomat's UN Walkout Tally Goes Viral

During Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech at the United Nations General Assembly, dozens of delegations staged a coordinated walkout. The Palestinian delegation had reportedly instructed representatives to fill the hall and then leave as Netanyahu began speaking. This action created a striking visual of empty seats during the address.

In response to the mass departure, an Israeli diplomat was filmed meticulously noting down the countries whose seats were empty or whose representatives had left. This act, captured on video and widely shared internationally, was dubbed a "roll call" by foreign media. Netanyahu himself addressed the walkout during his speech, calling any "moral cowards" still present to leave.

Reports suggest around 77 delegations were absent or left during the speech, with names like Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Pakistan, and Iran cited. However, some independent checks indicated that not all these absences were deliberate walkouts, with some countries not present initially or leaving only a junior diplomat behind.

As of now, Israel has not issued an official statement explaining the purpose of the diplomat's note-taking or whether it will lead to future diplomatic actions. The incident occurred amidst Netanyahu's strong criticism of nations that condemn Israel privately while acknowledging its role against Iran in closed-door discussions.
