Max Stock Offers Holiday Deals Amidst Rising Cost of Living Concerns

In anticipation of the Sukkot holiday, Israeli discount chain Max Stock has launched a sale featuring dozens of popular items at accessible prices. Among the offerings are a yellow cup with bees for just one shekel, bamboo spoons for 10 shekels, and a variety of decorative plates for 10.90 shekels. Special promotions include three serving trays for 4 shekels, applicable to other disposable trays as well, and a divided nut tray for 3.90 shekels.

These holiday-themed sales come as Israelis continue to grapple with the rising cost of living. Data released by fintech company Hyp earlier this month revealed that ahead of Rosh Hashanah, Israelis made more transactions but spent less overall. The number of transactions increased by 2.3% compared to the previous year, while the total purchase volume decreased by 6% and the average transaction amount fell by 8%.

Supermarket data showed a similar trend, with nearly the same number of transactions but an average spending decrease of 16 shekels per purchase. The average supermarket transaction dropped from approximately 281 shekels last year to 258 shekels this year, an 8% reduction. In response to these economic pressures, many retail chains are periodically announcing price reductions on sought-after consumer goods to help shoppers manage their expenses.
