Raanana's Rananim Mall Undergoes Major Renovation with New Cinema and Sports Facilities
Rananim Mall in Raanana is undergoing a significant renovation project, aiming to expand its cultural, sports, and entertainment offerings. The Mobiland chain will establish a new cinema complex within the mall, an investment of approximately 12 million shekels, featuring 10 screens across 2,500 square meters. This cinema complex will be built in the space currently occupied by a Home Center store, which is slated to relocate. The new cinema will include upgraded seating, some of which will recline and adjust, alongside seating with sofas. A dedicated hall for children and families, as well as a multipurpose hall for performances, shows, conferences, and events, are also planned. A culinary area will accompany the cinema, offering self-service options and a wide beverage bar. Mobiland describes the complex as designed in the style of intimate urban cinemas, emphasizing comfort and additional entertainment beyond movie viewing. This project marks the return of a cinema to Rananim Mall after years without one.
Simultaneously, a sports complex featuring 12 padel courts is being constructed on the mall's rooftop, covering approximately 6,000 square meters. The planning and building committee approved the padel courts in December 2025, and they will be managed by a private developer. Padel, a doubles sport combining elements of tennis and squash, has seen rapid growth in Israel. The decision to place these courts on the rooftop is part of a strategy to broaden the mall's uses beyond traditional retail.
The cornerstone-laying ceremony for the cinema complex took place recently, attended by Raanana Mayor Chaim Broyda, mall management, the JTLV group, and Mobiland executives. Mayor Broyda stated that the cinema complex aligns with the city's policy of mixed-use development, integrating businesses, education, culture, and leisure. He noted that the project is the result of nearly two years of dialogue between the municipality, mall management, and JTLV. Mobiland CEO Yaniv Harush indicated that the chain aims to operate around 60 screens by the end of 2027, with the Raanana complex being part of their strategy to establish cinemas in city centers and commercial hubs with smaller, more intimate halls and integrated amenities. The new complex is expected to open in the summer of 2027.
