The Likud party has vehemently denied reports published by The Atlantic and The New York Times, which claimed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received advance warnings before the October 7th Hamas attack. The party issued a statement asserting that these reports are "lies aimed at installing a left-wing government and Muslim Brotherhood" that would surrender on all fronts.
Likud accused "left-wing journalists" of promoting these "false publications" as elections approach, aiming to undermine the right-wing bloc. The party suggested the goal was to establish a left-wing government in partnership with the Muslim Brotherhood.
The New York Times report had previously cited claims that UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed had issued a warning to Netanyahu. The Atlantic article additionally reported that Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamel visited Israel 11 days before the attack, warning that "Gaza will explode in your faces."
