Tamar City Blames Government, Police for Rising Crime After Fatal Shooting

Tamar City issued a statement condemning and mourning the killing of Mohammed Samer Yassin, who was shot and killed in the town of Kafr Kanna. The city expressed its rejection of the escalating crime, the proliferation of weapons, and the lack of security in the Arab community.

The statement emphasized that Yassin's death is another addition to the growing list of victims in the Arab community, stating that continued violence exacerbates fear and loss among residents. Tamar condemned the shooting, noting that the Arab community faces a persistent surge in crime and weapons, alongside a diminishing sense of safety in Arab towns.

Tamar City held the government and police responsible for what it described as a continuous failure to provide security and confront organized crime and the spread of weapons within the Arab community. The statement asserted that state agencies possess the necessary powers and resources to pursue criminal gangs, dry up weapon sources, and apprehend perpetrators, yet the outcomes in Arab towns reflect a persistent failure in fulfilling this duty.

The statement stressed that protecting residents and combating crime require effective measures to ensure safety in homes, streets, and towns, amidst ongoing shootings and crimes affecting members of the Arab community. It also called upon the community itself to unite in confronting violence and crime and to resolve disputes through dialogue and reconciliation before they escalate.

Tamar City extended its condolences to Yassin's family, praying for his soul and for their patience.
