Israel Withdraws Judo Team from World Championships Due to Injuries

The Israeli national judo team will not compete in the team event at the upcoming World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan, due to multiple athlete injuries. The team was already registered for the final day's competition, but a significant factor in the decision was the knee injury sustained by Yuli Alma Mishiener (over 78 kg). Mishiener will miss her second consecutive competition because of this injury, despite efforts to have her ready.

Her absence, coupled with the reduced number of judokas in the heavier weight classes, led to the professional decision to withdraw from the team competition. Maya Kogan (under 70 kg) is also dealing with a more serious knee injury and will be sidelined for the foreseeable future. Additionally, Inbar Lanir (under 78 kg) and Gili Sharir (under 63 kg) are both recovering from surgeries, Lanir on her shoulder and Sharir on her knee.

Despite the withdrawal from the team event, Israel will still send 11 individual competitors to the World Championships, which begin on October 4th. The roster includes Gefen Primo (under 52 kg), Timna Nelson Levy (under 57 kg), Inbal Shemesh (under 57 kg), Yitzhak Aspiz (under 60 kg), Kerem Primo (under 63 kg), Maya Goshen (under 70 kg), Ohad Mor (under 73 kg), Yonathan Albal (under 73 kg), Raz Hershko (over 78 kg), Roy Shain (under 90 kg), and Yossef Seminin (under 100 kg).
