Israel's Judo Team Withdraws From World Championships Team Event

The Israeli national judo team will not compete in the team event at the upcoming World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan, which begins on October 4th. The decision was primarily made due to an injury to Yuli Almog Mishiner (over 78 kg), who sustained a knee injury and will miss her second consecutive competition. Mishiner's absence significantly weakens the team in the heavier weight classes, a crucial factor for the team competition.

Maya Kogan (under 70 kg) is also dealing with a more complex knee injury and will not participate in upcoming competitions. Furthermore, Inbar Lanir (under 78 kg) and Gili Sharir (under 63 kg) are both recovering from surgeries, Lanir on her shoulder and Sharir on her knee.

Despite these setbacks, Israel will still send 11 individual athletes to the World Championships, which will feature 640 judokas from 97 countries. The individual competitors include Gefen Primo (under 52 kg), Taimana Nelson Levy (under 57 kg), Inbal Shemesh (under 57 kg), Yitzhak Aspiz (under 60 kg), Kerem Primo (under 63 kg), Maya Goshen (under 70 kg), Ohad Mor (under 73 kg), Yonathan Elbaz (under 73 kg), Raz Hershko (over 78 kg), Roy Shain (under 90 kg), and Yosef Seminin (under 100 kg).
