Tony Parker Berates ASVEL Players at Halftime in EuroLeague Opener
ASVEL Villeurbanne coach Tony Parker delivered a fiery halftime speech to his players during their EuroLeague season opener against Maccabi Tel Aviv on Thursday, urging them to improve their defense despite holding a double-digit lead. The team ultimately secured an 84-74 victory, marking Parker's first win as a head coach.
The footage revealed Parker expressing his frustration, stating, "One thing we must not stop doing is playing fucking defense! Stay in front of people, respect what we said with the coach before the game. Don't do what you want. Otherwise, you'll sit next to me on the bench. Because I want to win this motherf***ing game."
Parker emphasized the importance of defense for securing the win, adding, "On offense we do what we do, and we'll be fine. We'll win the game on defense, as long as we play defense and stop them, we'll be fine. And then offensively we'll flow. Okay? I want five players who play tough with a lot of energy every minute."
Despite the coach's intense remarks, ASVEL managed to win by ten points. Their next EuroLeague matchup is against Panathinaikos.
