Hapoel Jerusalem Advances to Winner's Cup Semifinals After Dominant Win

Hapoel Jerusalem secured their spot in the Winner's Cup semifinals with a decisive 88-68 victory over Bnei Herzeliya on Friday. The team, coached by Sasa Obradovic, controlled the game from the outset in Hadera, showcasing complete dominance. This win propels Hapoel Jerusalem forward as they prepare to launch their European campaign next week with the goal of reaching the EuroLeague.

Kenny Lofton was a standout performer for Hapoel Jerusalem, scoring 17 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and dishing out 6 assists. He was supported by contributions from other players, including Jake Milton with 11 points, and Jalen Smith, Gabi Chachashvili, Eitan Burt, Yuval Sussman, and Nimrod Levi, who each added 9 points. For Bnei Herzeliya, Amit Gershon led the scoring with 15 points, followed by Dusty Hannahs with 13 and Deshaun Francis with 12.

Despite an early 13-6 lead for Herzeliya, Hapoel Jerusalem quickly responded with a 22-7 run to end the first quarter ahead 28-20. The second quarter was more balanced, with Jerusalem extending their lead to 41-29 by halftime. In the third quarter, Hapoel Jerusalem solidified their advantage, largely due to Lofton's exceptional play. The final quarter was largely a formality, with Jerusalem sealing their significant win.

Obradovic expressed satisfaction with his team's performance, highlighting their strong defense and offensive efficiency, spearheaded by Lofton. Bnei Herzeliya faced challenges with a short roster and early foul trouble, which hampered their play. Additionally, Noah Carter sustained an injury during the third quarter and will undergo further evaluation.

Looking ahead, Hapoel Jerusalem will begin their European journey in the EuroCup against Rostock next Tuesday. Bnei Herzeliya will also commence their European season on the same day, competing in the FIBA Champions League against Joventut Badalona.
