Radio Reporter Slams Colleague Over Remarks on Grief

Yenir Cousin, the diplomatic correspondent for Galei Tzahal (Army Radio), launched a sharp personal attack on fellow reporter Avishai Ben Haim on Friday. Cousin's outburst was triggered by statements Ben Haim allegedly made regarding Cousin's respect for bereaved families.

"You have to be a real scoundrel to tell me I have no respect for the bereaved," Cousin stated, adding that anyone who knows him is aware of his efforts to maintain respectful language. He acknowledged that his writing can be criticized but drew a line at accusations questioning his regard for those who have lost loved ones.

Cousin explained that his strong reaction stemmed from his experiences over the past three years, during which he has accompanied many bereaved families through the difficult process from notification to rehabilitation and commemoration. He also mentioned personal losses of friends and loved ones.

"This man, with your venomous lips, says I have no respect for the bereaved, and then adds, no respect for 'Netanyahu's' bereaved," Cousin continued, directly addressing Ben Haim. "Avishai, shame on you, you are a bad person. Period. And no sweet talk will cover up this bitterness."

Cousin reiterated that while he accepts sharp criticism of his work, he drew a clear boundary regarding claims about his attitude towards the bereaved, emphasizing his commitment to supporting these families.
