Hebrew Language Academy Reveals New Color Name 'Tarog'

Just before the Sukkot holiday, the Academy of the Hebrew Language surprised the public with a post revealing a previously unrecognized color name: 'Tarog'. The Academy explained that 'Tarog' is the specific Hebrew term for the yellowish-green hue of the etrog fruit, a citron commonly used during the Sukkot festival.

The Academy acknowledged that many people might be discovering this color name for the first time, stating, "If you discovered this now for the first time, you are not alone!".

In their post, the Academy drew parallels to other color names derived from nature. They noted that the color 'verod' (pink) comes from the flower 'vered' (rose), 'sagol' (purple) from the plant 'sigal', and 'k'tom' (orange) from the biblical word 'ketem', meaning gold.
