Work Battalion Members Gather for Song and Remembrance

Members of the "Work Battalion" (Gdud HaAvoda) gathered at their farm between the High Holy Days and Sukkot for a joint singing event with Amichai Plesser and Ja'ala. The group described the gathering as singing "songs of the earth, songs of the land. Together in fellowship," adding that "new air is blowing in our land. A spirit of new life."

For the participants, the singing is directly linked to their agricultural work and dedication to the land. They expressed a deep connection to the soil, stating, "Land that has waited years for redemption receives its children returning to it with great love." They conveyed feelings of longing, love, and devotion, wishing to "continue to see the redemption of our land."

The communal singing also served as a commemoration of the second anniversary of the death of their comrade, Yehuda Dror Yahalom, who fell in battle in Lebanon. "Exactly two years since our dear friend, hero of Israel Yehuda Dror Yahalom, fell in a heroic battle in Lebanon, many friends continue to walk the path ascending the mountain," his friends wrote.

The group dedicated their singing to Yahalom's memory and the continuation of his path. "May it be His will that the song be dedicated to his memory and the continuation of his path, new souls singing the song of Torah and the land, with God's help, towards complete redemption," they wrote.
