IDF Chief of Staff Orders Investigation into Gaza Drone Incident Killing Two Reservists
The Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has ordered the establishment of an expert team to investigate a serious incident in northern Gaza that resulted in the deaths of two reservist soldiers. The incident occurred when a drone used by the forces crashed inside a post. When the soldiers approached the crashed drone, it exploded.
As a result of the explosion, reservists Staff Sergeant Nadav Kali and Staff Sergeant Ofek Moalem were critically injured and later died in the hospital. The drone was reportedly being used by the forces at the time of the incident.
The investigation team will be headed by a Brigadier General from the Ground Forces and will conduct a comprehensive review of the technical and operational aspects of the event. This includes examining the functioning of systems, operational procedures, and protocols followed on the ground.
The objective of the inquiry is to learn lessons from the incident and prevent similar occurrences in the future. The IDF has expressed its condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers.
