Rabbi Advises Modesty in Sukkah During Sukkot Holiday

Rabbi Binyamin Houta, a prominent halachic decisor, has issued guidance on appropriate attire within the Sukkah during the Sukkot holiday, emphasizing the importance of modesty. In his daily "Halacha in 60 Seconds" segment on the website Kikar HaShabbat, Rabbi Houta explained that the commandment to dwell in the Sukkah, "Teshvu ba'Sukkah," implies living in it as one would in their home.

He clarified that while it is permissible to remove a shirt if the arms are exposed, more significant changes of clothing should be done discreetly. For men, Rabbi Houta advised changing trousers under a blanket. For women, who are generally expected to observe a higher standard of modesty, he specifically recommended changing entirely under a blanket to maintain appropriate attire within the Sukkah.
