Netanyahu Praises Argentina's Milei for Truthful Stance and Support for Israel

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with Argentinian President Javier Milei in New York following Milei's address at the UN General Assembly. Netanyahu expressed gratitude for Milei's "unwavering and unreserved" support for Israel and congratulated him on receiving the "Lover of Israel" award from the Darchei Torah yeshiva in New York.

Netanyahu lauded Milei as "one of the great leaders of our generation," praising his economic reforms in Argentina as "extraordinary" and noting the political opposition he overcame. "As someone who led such a change myself, know that this is a compliment that comes from the heart and the mind," Netanyahu stated, referencing his own experience with economic reforms.

Furthermore, Netanyahu commended Milei's principled international stance, stating, "You stand for the truth. You don't care, you just speak for the truth. That is why you support Israel because we share this common heritage of justice and speaking for the truth, and there is no one who does it better than you."

President Milei responded by calling Netanyahu "one of the great leaders in world history" and expressed his honor at hearing the praise. The two leaders discussed expanding cooperation, particularly in light of a "positive strategic change" in Latin America, which they believe could broaden the Abraham Accords to deepen security and economic ties between Israel and the continent's nations, spearheaded by Milei.

Milei had previously visited the Darchei Torah yeshiva, where he spoke to students and received the "Lover of Israel" award for his support of Israel and the Jewish people. He has publicly stated his inspiration from biblical texts, particularly the Book of Exodus.

During his New York visit, Netanyahu also held meetings with leaders from Bolivia, Paraguay, Panama, Ethiopia, Colombia, Greece, Slovenia, and Papua New Guinea. This visit was notably brief, primarily focused on Netanyahu's UN address.
