Irish Player Calls for Boycott of Upcoming Match Against Israel

For the first time, an Irish national team player has publicly stated that the upcoming matches against Israel should not take place. Jason Knight, a member of the Irish squad scheduled to face Israel twice, spoke out following Ireland's 1-0 loss to Kosovo.

"It's difficult. I don't think this game should be happening, but it is happening and we have to deal with it," Knight told the media. He indicated that the team would discuss the matter further to understand its implications and their collective stance.

Knight acknowledged that the upcoming games against Israel are a significant topic of conversation in Ireland. He admitted that while his focus had been on recent matches and his club commitments, he knew the time would come to address the Israel fixture. "I'm an experienced player, but even I haven't been in a situation like this before," he said, expressing his intention to concentrate on football as much as possible.

This is the first time a player from the Irish squad has voiced such sentiments regarding the matches. Notably, four months prior, Ireland played a friendly against Qatar, and no Irish player expressed similar reservations.
