Rabbi of Dushinsky Refuses Special Treatment, Shares Elevator with Workers

The Grand Rabbi of Dushinsky has once again captured public attention with a display of humility, this time refusing to displace Arab laborers from an elevator in Jerusalem. The incident occurred recently between Yom Kippur and Sukkot, during a series of visits the Rabbi made to thank major donors for their contributions to the 'Beit Yosef Tzvi' yeshiva, currently under construction in Elad. The yeshiva plans to relocate to Elad during the upcoming winter.

During his visits, the Rabbi, accompanied by his entourage, including the yeshiva's supervisor and administrators, visited the home of a prominent donor, Mr. Fischer, who was staying in a Jerusalem tower. Upon concluding the visit, as the Rabbi and his party headed for the elevator, they encountered several Arab workers inside. His attendants and hosts attempted to clear the elevator for the Rabbi, but he personally intervened, preventing them from doing so.

The workers, recognizing the distinguished figure, also offered to exit and make way for the Rabbi. However, he declined their offer, gesturing for them to remain and continue their journey. One of the workers, visibly moved by the gesture, exclaimed, "By your life, our Rabbi..."

The brief video documenting the event quickly spread across social media, eliciting widespread admiration for the Rabbi's extraordinary act of respect towards the laborers. Online commenters praised his unusual conduct, describing him as "a different kind of Rebbe" and "worthy of admiration."
