Israel National Football Team Coach Reflects on Draw and Player Red Card

Israel's national football team coach, Ran Ben Shimon, expressed disappointment following a 1-1 draw against Austria. Speaking after the match, Ben Shimon acknowledged the team's heroic effort, especially after playing with ten men for a significant portion of the game and conceding a goal in the 90th minute. He emphasized the need to lift the players' spirits after the setback, stating, "We are disappointed, we really wanted it." Ben Shimon also addressed the red card received by player Seyd Abu Farhi, explaining that while he understands the referee's decision based on the rules, he views Abu Farhi as a young player who will learn from the experience, noting that the player always gives 100%.

Ben Shimon felt the game hinged on small details, lamenting missed opportunities and a lack of attacking threat. He praised the team's resilience in the final half-hour while playing shorthanded, but pointed to suboptimal decision-making during transitions.
