Israel Coach Ben Shimon Reflects on Draw, Player Red Card

Israel national team coach Ran Ben Shimon expressed disappointment following his team's 1-1 draw against Austria on Thursday. He stated that while the team is disappointed and wanted to win, they must now focus on lifting the players' spirits for the remaining five matches.

Ben Shimon addressed the red card received by player Seyd Abu Farhi, explaining that he understood the referee's decision based on the rules, comparing the player's action of raising a corner flag to a rifle. He described Abu Farhi as a young player who will learn from the experience, emphasizing that the player always gives 100%. The coach noted that the game hinged on small details, and while the team created few chances, they could have achieved a different outcome.

Reflecting on the team's performance, Ben Shimon highlighted their quiet play with the ball and the heroic effort in the final half-hour with a man down. He pointed out that while they made many transitions, some decisions were not optimal. Ben Shimon stressed that the team would not seek blame but would instead analyze the game to improve.

Looking ahead to the next match against Ireland, Ben Shimon stated his sole focus is on preparing the team as best as possible, both physically, mentally, and tactically. He deferred responsibility for other matters to the Football Association. When asked about shaking hands with the opposing coach, he deemed it irrelevant, adding that he would not act with hatred.
