Abbas Addresses UN, Accuses Israel of 'Genocide' and Demands Arms Embargo

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, also known as Abu Mazen, delivered a video address to the United Nations General Assembly, launching a strong verbal attack on Israeli policies. During his speech, Abbas called for an immediate halt to arms supplies to Israel and outlined his demands concerning the future of the Gaza Strip and the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Abbas accused Israel of committing "genocide" in the Gaza Strip and warned against a further "Nakba," or catastrophe, similar to the events of 1948. He also referenced alleged "Jewish violence" in the West Bank, urging nations not to allow what he termed "terrorist gangs protected by Israeli occupation forces" to burn Palestinian homes while residents slept.

Further elaborating on his demands, Abbas called for an end to arms shipments to Israel, which he claimed are used against Palestinians. He urged the international community to provide protection to the Palestinian people and to actively work towards implementing the two-state solution.

Abbas also addressed the issue of construction in the E1 area, which connects Jerusalem and Ma'ale Adumim, cautioning against continued building. He commended several Western nations for their decision to boycott products from Israeli settlements.

Regarding a plan proposed by former U.S. President Donald Trump for the Gaza Strip, Abbas emphasized the unification of Palestinian territories as a central requirement. He stated that any plan should lead to the integration of the Gaza Strip with the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, under a single Palestinian state.
