Netanyahu Effigy Hanged Outside UN During His Speech

Anti-Zionist protesters staged a demonstration outside the United Nations headquarters in New York during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's address to the General Assembly. The protest, reported by Maariv, featured a Netanyahu effigy dressed in a prison uniform and placed on a symbolic noose. The effigy bore a sign labeling Netanyahu as "Satan." Protesters chanted offensive slogans, with some calling for the Prime Minister's assassination. Placards also called for the hanging of National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, referencing his support for a death penalty law for Palestinians convicted of deadly terror attacks. Other protest symbols included people wearing bags on their heads depicting nooses, and posters comparing Israel to Satan and Nazi Germany. A plastic pig's head labeled "Bibi" was also displayed, alongside a pile of baby dolls wrapped in white sheets stained with red paint. Slogans such as "Death to the IDF" and "Long live the intifada!" were heard.

Netanyahu's UN speech addressed Iran's nuclear program, the October 7th attacks, the Golan Heights, and ongoing military operations. He stated that Israel had struck Iranian nuclear facilities due to perceived threats to Israel and other nations, and claimed some foreign leaders privately thanked Israel for its actions against Iran. He also addressed delegates who walked out of his speech, telling them to leave if they were "moral cowards." Netanyahu described the October 7th attack as resulting in 1,200 deaths, comparing the scale of loss for Israel to approximately 40,000 deaths in the U.S. in a single day.

Separately, New York police initiated further checks after men were observed emerging from a sewer near Netanyahu's hotel in New York.
