Shfadan Wastewater Treatment Plant Offers Immersive Sukkot Holiday Experience

The "Igudan" Visitors Center at the Shfadan wastewater treatment facility is inviting families to explore the world of water and wastewater management during the intermediate days of Sukkot. The experience, priced at 15 shekels per person, aims to educate visitors about the journey of wastewater from homes in the Gush Dan region to its eventual return to nature.

The tour, themed "Life Beneath Life," takes participants through the underground infrastructure, including a simulated sewer pipe, and utilizes periscopes, microscopes, and interactive displays to reveal the hidden processes. Informative films and an experiential movie about "Igudan's" operations are also part of the itinerary, highlighting the importance of water conservation.

Adding to the holiday festivities, Dr. Molecule will present a science show titled "Water - The Elixir of Life," featuring experiments designed to make the subject engaging for families. This show complements the main tour by offering another perspective on water's role in our lives.

The visit also includes the augmented reality exhibition "Infrastructure of Life," created to mark "Igudan's" 70th anniversary. This exhibition allows visitors to view the surrounding and underlying infrastructure from a new angle, further deepening their understanding of the systems at play.

The activities will run from Sunday, September 27, to Friday, October 2, 2026. Twelve tours will be conducted daily from Sunday to Thursday, with six tours on Friday. Each tour and activity lasts approximately two hours. Further details and registration are available on the "Igudan" website.
