Rosh HaAyin Expands Eruv to Include National Park for Shabbat Observance

The city of Rosh HaAyin is advancing plans to expand its urban eruv, a ritual boundary for carrying objects on Shabbat, to encompass the grounds of the Migdal Tzedek National Park. A professional tour of the park's terrain was conducted this week to identify suitable locations for the necessary eruv poles.

Participants in the tour included Mayor Raz Sagie, the city's rabbi, Rabbi Yehiel Bsis, the religious council's director, Rabbi Asher Shuker, and a representative from the Israel Nature and Parks Authority. This initiative aims to accommodate Shabbat-observant families who are currently limited in their ability to visit the park on Shabbat and holidays due to the absence of an eruv.

Migdal Tzedek National Park has become a significant nature, heritage, and leisure destination for residents of Rosh HaAyin and the surrounding area in recent years. The expansion of the eruv, which will proceed after the completion of halachic considerations and on-site work, will allow a broader public to enjoy the park's trails, open spaces, and activities throughout the week.

Mayor Raz Sagie emphasized that Migdal Tzedek is one of Rosh HaAyin's most important natural and recreational sites, and it is crucial for Shabbat-observant families to be able to enjoy it. He added that the eruv expansion will open up opportunities for them to experience one of the city's special places and thanked the city rabbi, the religious council, and the Nature and Parks Authority for their cooperation.
