Poll Shows Majority of Opposition Voters Want Single Prime Ministerial Candidate

A new poll indicates that a significant majority of voters supporting Israel's opposition bloc desire a unified candidate for prime minister. The survey, conducted by political consultant Yossi Tatika's "Tatika Research and Media" in collaboration with the Adgenda panel, found that 67% of opposition supporters believe their parties should coalesce around a single leader.

The findings come ahead of a planned meeting of opposition party leaders at the home of Yair Lapid. The poll specifically questioned supporters of Gadi Eisenkot's "Yashar!" party, Naftali Bennett's "Yachad" party, Avigdor Lieberman's "Yisrael Beiteinu," and Lapid's "Democrats" regarding their preference for a joint candidate.

While 67% favored a single candidate, 22% opposed the idea, with a notable portion of the dissenters being supporters of Bennett's "Yachad" party. The remaining 11% were undecided.

The survey also presented a hypothetical election scenario where the current coalition and the opposition bloc are tied with 53 seats each. In this scenario, "Yashar!" leads the opposition with 23 seats, followed by "Yachad" with 12. The Arab parties, the Joint List and Ra'am, are projected to win 8 and 6 seats respectively. Notably, Benny Gantz's "Blue and White" party and Yoaz Hendel and Yaron Zelekha's "Reservists-Economic" party failed to pass the electoral threshold.

The poll surveyed 500 Jewish and Arab respondents on September 23-24, 2026, with a maximum margin of error of 4.4%. Tatika Research and Media is a firm specializing in political and media consulting, while Adgenda is a panel expert in surveys and social media.
