Rabbi Pinto Leads Yom Kippur Prayers, Invites Community to 'Pidyon Peter Chamor' Ceremony

Thousands of worshippers gathered at the "Yesmach Moshe" synagogue, led by Rabbi Chaim Shimon Pinto, for Yom Kippur prayers. The synagogue's large hall was prepared to accommodate the many attendees, including those who traveled from outside the city. Rabbi Pinto, dressed in white like a High Priest in the Temple, officiated the services, leading prayers and reciting penitential verses with emotion. He personally led the final "Neilah" (closing) service, despite feeling unwell from the day's fasting and devotion, culminating in the blowing of the shofar to signify the sealing of fates for the coming year.

Before the evening prayer service, Rabbi Pinto and the congregation sang "V'taher Libenu L'ovd'cha B'emet" (Purify our hearts to serve You in truth) before proceeding to Maariv. Following the prayers, an announcement was made on behalf of Rabbi Pinto, inviting the entire community to a "Simchat Beit Hashoeva" and "Pidyon Peter Chamor" (Redemption of the Firstborn Donkey) ceremony. This event is scheduled for the evening of the first day of Sukkot, Saturday, October 12th, at 8:30 PM, in the courtyard of Rabbi Pinto's large sukkah in Kiryat Malachi. Rabbi Pinto emphasized that this "Pidyon Peter Chamor" will also serve as atonement for the sins of the Jewish people.

After the prayers concluded, the congregation participated in the "Birkat Hachama" (Blessing of the Sun) ceremony in the large plaza, followed by Rabbi Pinto performing the "Havdalah" ceremony, marking the end of Yom Kippur and the Sabbath. A large crowd gathered around the table for refreshments, and many accompanied Rabbi Pinto to his home, likening the procession to the escort of a High Priest leaving the Holy Temple.
