Journalists' Committee Removes 22 Individuals From Gaza Gaza Death Toll After Identifying Them as Combatants

Additionally, the CPJ reinstated four individuals previously removed in error and reclassified two Israelis killed on October 7 as journalists. This brings the total number of individuals removed from the list of deceased media workers to 36. The CPJ emphasized that its decisions are based on its own criteria, independent of any affiliation or political views.

The CPJ's updated figures indicate that since October 7, 2023, 191 journalists and media workers have been killed in the conflict. The organization stated that it continuously reviews its data as more information becomes available. The committee also added four previously excluded individuals back to the list and reclassified two Israelis who died on October 7 as journalists, contributing to the overall adjustment of 36 individuals removed from the count of media fatalities.
