Channel 14 Host Slams Rabbi Beni Lau Over Political Criticism

Channel 14 host Shimon Riklin launched a scathing personal attack on Rabbi Beni Lau on Thursday, following remarks the rabbi made about a recent attack on Route 443. Neriah Laiter was severely injured in the attack.

In a social media post, Riklin accused Rabbi Lau of exploiting the incident for political gain and criticizing Religious Zionism. Riklin directly addressed the rabbi, stating, "Hello Beni Lau. You wrote that you are praying for Neriah Laiter's recovery and for the peace of this dear family standing on a mission for the nation."

Riklin then vehemently criticized Lau's subsequent remarks, which he claimed were directed at Religious Zionism. "Only a filthy person like you, who has nothing to do with religion, can make petty politics on the back of a family that has already lost its dearest and hopes and prays so much for the well-being of their injured son," Riklin wrote.

He further accused Rabbi Lau of defending Arabs in Judea and Samaria, adding, "It would be more fitting for you to join Segalovich on a small chair like yours and listen together to the verses of the Quran. You are disgusting."

Rabbi Lau had previously written that the religious public "turns a blind eye to terrible things happening in the territory within its sphere of existence, in eastern Judea and Samaria." He added that it is not only "Hilltop Youth" causing Jewish terror acts, but also "leaders whom the religious-national public admires and elevates who bring this chaos upon us." He concluded, "This is not anarchy and loss of governance. This is offensive governance that seeks to lead reality to the dreams of fringe groups, there is no law, no state, no government, no sovereignty."
