Mughar Residents Reject Far-Right Minister Smotrich's Meeting

The Popular Committee and Local Council in the Arab Israeli town of Mughar have announced their rejection of a planned political meeting by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and his party, the Religious Zionism party, in the area known as 'Al-Rous'. The council stated that the meeting is perceived as an attempt to establish a settlement outpost in the region, aiming to impose a new reality and turn Mughar's land into a site for settlement projects.

In a statement, the council declared, "The residents of Mughar will not be drawn into provocations and will not allow their land and rights to be violated. We will confront these attempts with a unified stance, awareness, responsibility, and peaceful, organized popular and legal struggle." They emphasized their commitment to protecting their land and rights through peaceful and legal means, refusing to accept any new reality imposed on Mughar's territory.

In preparation for the potential meeting, activists from the 'Tzionut Datit' (Religious Zionism) party reportedly placed approximately 1,000 Israeli flags along main roads in the Shagur region, including Mughar. Smotrich himself shared a video on his social media platform 'X' showcasing these flags, noting their placement in the Galilee and Mughar area.

Meanwhile, media sources reported that police have increased their forces in the Shagur region to prevent potential escalations, public disorder, or road blockades.
