Nadav Lapid on the directors who boycotted him: 'I wouldn't call them antisemites'
Director and screenwriter Nadav Lapid was preparing to serve as a judge at a festival in France, when he encountered opposition from various parties that prevented his participation, including directors who threatened to withdraw their films from the event. In an interview with Iris Kol on 103FM, he described how he felt in the face of the boycott.
"They tried to come up with a compromise in which I would give a master class, but even that was not enough for those who opposed my presence at the festival. From a cinematic perspective, these are fairly minor people in terms of their place. But I think they have an impact that is a result of the lack of courage of various film institutions, like the festival in Marseille, which get scared in the face of the commotion. I want to say one thing, I am not Jesus and I do not turn the other cheek when I am slapped, but I would not rush to call these people antisemites." Listen above to the full conversation.
