IDF Honors Fallen Tank Crews, Vows Firm Response to Terrorism

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) held its annual memorial ceremony for fallen tank corps soldiers on September 23rd at the "Yad LaShirion" memorial in Latrun. The event was attended by IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, corps commanders, soldiers, and families of fallen soldiers.

During the ceremony, Lt. Gen. Zamir addressed a recent incident where a reserve soldier was seriously wounded in a terrorist attack at the Maccabim checkpoint. He stated that the army would continue to act decisively against terrorist organizations to ensure the safety of all citizens and soldiers. Those present expressed hope for the injured soldier's recovery.

Zamir reflected on the history and traditions of the tank corps, emphasizing that the memory of fallen comrades and the heroism of past generations form the foundation of every Israeli soldier's identity. He shared that this conviction, formed over 40 years ago as a tank crew member, is deeply rooted in the IDF's values.

He also drew parallels between past challenges and the present, recalling the events of October 7, 2023. Zamir noted that armored vehicles were among the first to confront the enemy, with tank crews rushing into battle to stop terrorists and save civilian lives during the initial attacks and heavy losses.
