Diaspora Minister Amichai Chikli Appears on Channel 12, Breaking Boycott Pledge

Diaspora Affairs and the Fight Against Antisemitism Minister Amichai Chikli appeared in the studio of Channel 12 on Wednesday, violating a commitment he made earlier this year. Chikli was among a group of public officials who signed a letter pledging to boycott the network following its coverage of the "100 Unit" soldiers at the Tzfia Base in the Gaza Strip.

The letter, signed in January, demanded a public apology to the reservist soldiers, the removal of related publications, and disciplinary action against reporter Guy Peleg and others involved in the broadcast. The coverage in question involved an edited and blurred video accompanied by commentary that attributed serious actions to the reservist fighters.

The signatories explicitly stated they would refuse any requests to appear or be interviewed on Channel 12 until all their demands were met. Despite no indication that the network has fulfilled these demands, Minister Chikli attended an interview at the Channel 12 studio. A response from the minister's office regarding his appearance has not yet been provided.
