Minister Shikli Slams Gadi Eisenkot Over 'Disgraceful' Actions

Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism Minister Amichai Chikli has strongly criticized former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot, calling his recent remarks about Chikli's past actions "disgraceful." Chikli, speaking in a special interview with "Srugim," referenced Eisenkot's previous praise for him, contrasting it with his current criticism. Chikli suggested Eisenkot's shift in stance stems from a lack of commitment to "defeating Israel" and alleged "delusional thoughts" of forming a government with "Islamist entities."

Chikli also addressed his own potential role in the next government, stating it's too early to discuss specific positions. He learned from former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett not to focus on specific roles, as making a position the goal leads to significant problems. Chikli expressed hope and belief that his bloc will win the upcoming elections and be in a position to influence policy, particularly regarding strengthening the Galilee and Negev regions, alongside a strong connection to settlement, education, and security.

Regarding the formation of a future coalition, Chikli emphasized the priority of strengthening the "national camp" and expanding settlements in Judea and Samaria. He stated his preference for working with parties within the national camp first, followed by those who accept the principle of settlement throughout the land and are willing to support judicial reform.

Chikli dismissed the possibility of a rotation government with Eisenkot, asserting that such arrangements are irrelevant and that his goal is for the current Prime Minister to win the elections and form a distinctly national government. He also commented on the potential inclusion of Itamar Ben-Gvir, deferring to the Prime Minister's stance on integrating national camp parties.

At the end of the interview, Chikli offered a personal apology to his children for missing their summer vacation due to his public service, expressing regret for the limited family time. He also conveyed his deep concern over the situation in the Galilee.
