Hostage Survivor Criticizes Journalist Ayala Hasoon Over Interview

Rom Braslavsky, a survivor of Hamas captivity from the Nova music festival massacre on October 7th, has publicly criticized prominent Israeli journalist Ayala Hasoon. Braslavsky, who was held by Palestinian Islamic Jihad, accused Hasoon of attempting to instigate conflict and discord during an interview with Zvika Mor and his son Eitan, a released hostage.

In the interview, Hasoon questioned Zvika Mor about his prioritization of the state over his son's immediate return, asking if this created tension or pain, and if he loved the country more than his son. Eitan Mor responded that these concepts were intertwined, and he understood his father's pre-war views, agreeing that his father would choose the path that benefited the country. Eitan added that he himself was prepared to die in Gaza for the sake of destroying Hamas.

Zvika Mor elaborated, explaining his "Zionist perspective" and the necessity of the state winning the war, even above his own life or the lives of soldiers falling in battle. Hasoon questioned this "comprehensive view" while inside a tunnel, but Mor reiterated that the state's victory was paramount.

Braslavsky, sharing a clip of the exchange on X, stated that Hasoon "shamelessly tried to sow discord" between father and son, but failed. He asserted that Zvika Mor's stance, prioritizing the fight over his son's life, represented true patriotism. Braslavsky, drawing on his own experience as a hostage, revealed he was willing to die for the destruction of Hamas, but doubted Israel's resolve to achieve "absolute victory," citing perceived weak bombings and a lack of genuine intent to eliminate Hamas. He suggested this led to unnecessary suffering and questioned what fallen soldiers' families would think, given ongoing Hamas activity.
