Attacker Neutralized After Ramming Soldiers at West Bank Checkpoint

A Palestinian attacker was killed by security forces on Wednesday afternoon after ramming his vehicle into a police car and attempting to attack soldiers at the Makabim checkpoint on Highway 443. The incident occurred around 5:00 PM.

Security camera footage shows the 29-year-old attacker's vehicle breaching the checkpoint before he emerged and ran towards soldiers, attempting to harm them. He was neutralized within seconds by security forces present at the scene.

During the initial ramming, a police officer was seriously injured and evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center. The attacker, after hitting the police car, then apparently tried to attack additional soldiers before being shot and killed.

Police reported that a traffic enforcement team was conducting routine vehicle checks when the attacker's car approached at high speed and struck a security forces member. Soldiers at the scene then opened fire on the attacker as he attempted to flee, resulting in his death. The injured officer's condition is described as serious.

Investigators from the Modi'in Illit station, traffic accident investigators, and forensic identification investigators from the Judea and Samaria district have opened an investigation into the incident. District Commander Moshe Finchi and Samaria Brigade Commander Avi Cohen arrived at the scene to assess the situation with responding forces.

Paramedics from United Hatzalah and Magen David Adom provided initial medical treatment to the injured officer, who was unconscious with severe injuries. He was evacuated by MDA ambulance to the hospital in serious and unstable condition.
