The NBA is reportedly moving toward a major Giannis Antetokounmpo trade within the next 48 hours, before the draft begins Tuesday night into Wednesday. According to reporter Evan Sidery, “the race will soon come to an end,” and Milwaukee and Miami are said to be “close to an agreement” on a huge multi-team deal.
Under the reported framework, the Heat would send Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and several draft picks to the Bucks. Other Miami names mentioned as possible pieces include Nikola Jovic, Kasparas Jakucionis, and Pelle Larsson. ESPN’s Bobby Marks said Miami has the type of package Milwaukee wants, a mix of a veteran player, young players, and draft capital.
Marks said Miami could offer the No. 13 pick in the upcoming draft, two future first-round picks in 2030 and 2032, plus multiple pick swaps. “That is why I think Miami currently has the best package on the market,” he said, though he added that more clarity is still needed about the situation.
Milwaukee’s stance has been that it is willing to listen to offers, but will not move its star for a low price. Antetokounmpo has not publicly requested a trade, and has said he would “never” demand a move, though after last season he admitted, when asked if he had played his final game for the Bucks, “I don’t know. It’s not up to me.”
There has also been speculation about Boston, but Paul Pierce rejected the idea of a move that would cost Jaylen Brown or Jayson Tatum, saying he would keep both and build around them. He said he would only consider it if Brown were unhappy and wanted to look elsewhere.
