Israeli Election Committee Votes to Disqualify Arab Political Bloc

Israel's Central Elections Committee has voted to disqualify the "Joint List," a bloc of Arab parties, from participating in the upcoming elections. The decision passed with 18 committee members in favor and five against. This move follows similar disqualifications of Ofer Cassif, a member of the Joint List, and the Ra'am party. The Joint List is an alliance of the Hadash, Ta'al, and Balad parties. The Likud party and the "Orot Ha'shachar" party had submitted the requests to disqualify the bloc. Representatives of the Joint List argued that the attempt to remove them from the ballot is an attack on the political representation of Arab citizens in Israel. The Central Elections Committee's decision is not final and will now be reviewed by the Supreme Court.
