Stand-up Comedian Matan Peretz Discusses Challenges of Being Single at 38

Israeli stand-up comedian Matan Peretz, 38, recently shared his personal reflections on being single during an appearance on the Galatz radio program "Good That You Came." Peretz, who was included in a list of "Desirable Singles 2026," expressed his desire to be removed from such rankings, stating, "This is not a good title" and "I don't want to be here next year." He questioned the concept of celebrating singlehood, particularly at his age.

Peretz elaborated on the difficulties of remaining single in his late thirties, contrasting it with the perceived ease of enjoying single life in one's mid-twenties. "Being 38 and single is something not fun," he stated, while also acknowledging his appreciation for his current peace and quiet, though he still desires a relationship.

He described a constant internal conflict between wanting to share his life with someone and refusing to settle for the wrong partner. This sentiment led to a humorous exchange with co-host Ilan Rosenfeld, who identified himself as divorced. Peretz then recounted a conversation with his father about marriage, where he posed the rhetorical question, "Do you want me to just marry someone and then get divorced?" His father's witty reply, "Being divorced means you got married at least!" drew laughter from the studio.
