Car Ramming Attack Near Benjamin Leaves One Israeli Wounded, Assailant Killed

An Israeli national was seriously injured in a car ramming attack near the Maccabim checkpoint in the Benjamin region. The assailant, identified as a resident of the Palestinian Authority, was killed by Israeli forces. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that soldiers in the area "eliminated the terrorist who carried out the attack."

Following the initial attack, the assailant fled the scene but was later apprehended by IDF soldiers in Ramallah, according to Palestinian sources. The IDF reported that a nearby sniper opened fire on the attacker shortly after the incident, wounding him. The assailant managed to escape and was later found in a medical facility.

This incident follows a previous attack near the settlement of Halamish in the Benjamin region, where an Israeli was killed. Hamas praised that attack, calling it a response to actions taken by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Israeli security forces have heightened security measures ahead of the Sukkot holiday, which begins on September 25, due to concerns about potential further attacks. The IDF has noted a sustained increase in terrorist activity in Judea and Samaria.
