US Ambassador Mike Huckabee Receives Giant Etrog in Jerusalem
U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee was presented with an exceptionally large etrog at the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem ahead of the Sukkot holiday. The gift was given by two prominent figures in the Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) community, Dovi Honig, founder and CEO of the Orthodox Chamber of Commerce, and Rabbi Chaim Michael Gutterman, a founder of the "Shuvu" educational network.
Honing explained that in Jewish tradition, the etrog symbolizes the human heart, and the oversized fruit was presented as a token of appreciation for Huckabee's consistent support of the Jewish people. "You have a heart as big as this etrog," Honig told the ambassador.
Rabbi Gutterman added that just as the etrog endures through all seasons, Huckabee stands by Israel through all its challenges. Huckabee expressed his gratitude for the gesture, noting he had never seen anything like it and was deeply moved by the story behind the gift.
The ambassador also learned about the activities of the "Shuvu" network and expressed interest in visiting its institutions across Israel.
