Tira Municipality Holds Emergency Session on Homes Facing Demolition

Tira Municipality convened an emergency session on Tuesday to discuss the issue of homes belonging to the Abu Hajjaj family and other residents that are under threat of demolition. These houses are located near the city of Qalansawe, with the land legally falling under the jurisdiction of the Tira Municipality. Former Tira Mayor, attorney Shuaa Masarwa Mansour, stated in a press release that the National Demolition Unit distributed demolition orders for an entire neighborhood west of Tira, adjacent to Qalansawe. The demolitions are scheduled to be carried out within 21 days from the date of the orders.

The session aimed to address the imminent threat to these homes, which are situated on land legally recognized as belonging to the Tira Municipality but are near Qalansawe. The involvement of the National Demolition Unit highlights the urgency of the situation, with residents given a three-week notice period before the demolitions are set to begin.
