Austria Coach Rangnick Dismisses World Cup Hangover Ahead of Israel Match

Austria's national football team coach, Ralf Rangnick, has stated that his team is not suffering from a "hangover" following their elimination from the World Cup, as they prepare to face Israel in the Nations League. Rangnick emphasized that the current squad is significantly different from the one that competed in the World Cup, with many new players or those who did not participate.

"The energy is good. They like to control the ball," Rangnick commented on his team's current state, stressing that each player must take responsibility to elevate their performance. He added that the team has undergone two intensive training sessions in preparation for the match against Israel.

Rangnick acknowledged Israel's attacking capabilities, noting their preference for ball possession and dangerous offensive patterns. "We will do our maximum, we will focus solely on the game," he stated, expressing confidence that the outcome depends on Austria's performance. When asked about the security situation, Rangnick remarked that wars are unnecessary and costly in human lives, advocating for collective responsibility.

Regarding the team's captaincy, Michael Gregoritsch, who is now the captain after the previous three captains were left out of the squad, expressed the honor of leading the team. Rangnick described Gregoritsch's appointment as captain as a "natural choice," citing his experience and leadership within the squad.
