Shikun & Binui Wins Jerusalem Urban Renewal Tender for 256 Apartments
Shikun & Binui Real Estate has been selected by apartment owners in Jerusalem's Pisgat Ze'ev neighborhood to lead an urban renewal project. The company won a tender for the site at 33-39 Ha'Shisha Asar Street, which currently comprises four residential buildings with approximately 60 apartments and commercial spaces.
The planned project involves demolishing the existing structures and constructing two new towers and additional low-rise buildings, totaling around 256 new apartments. The development will also include street-level commercial areas. Shikun & Binui is also in discussions to include ten adjacent buildings in a broader renewal plan for the entire complex, though these are not part of the current tender win.
Avishai Kimel'dor, CEO of Shikun & Binui Real Estate, stated that the Pisgat Ze'ev project is a starting point for a larger initiative in the area. He emphasized the benefits of comprehensive urban renewal for residents and the environment, noting Jerusalem's significant renewal activity and Shikun & Binui's potential to expand its operations in other city neighborhoods.
The street, Ha'Shisha Asar, is named in memory of 16 Haganah fighters from the Moriah Battalion of the Etzioni Brigade who fell in battle near Atarot during the 1948 War of Independence. The project's design is managed by Guy Igra Architects, with Eliyahu Lav as the residents' supervisor.
