Channel 12 reporter Gilad Shlmor shared the story of a spontaneous trip to the Czech Republic that began with a WhatsApp conversation and quickly evolved into a journey with two army friends. Initially, Shlmor was hesitant to visit Prague again so soon after a previous trip, but a demanding work period, specifically covering pilgrims traveling to Uman for Rosh Hashanah, left him yearning for a change of scenery. His friend 'K', who was in Germany and had planned to go to Vietnam, canceled his original trip due to floods in northern Vietnam and suggested the Czech Republic instead.

Within two hours, Shlmor and his friends had decided to go and purchased tickets. Less than 12 hours later, they were on a flight to Prague, where they met up with 'K'. The trio embarked on their trip without a rigid plan, prioritizing relaxation and nature. They stayed in a cabin by a river, hiked, climbed cliffs, and cycled, spending evenings by bonfires discussing life and their time since military service.

Shlmor was particularly impressed by the Czech Republic's natural beauty and the welcoming attitude he encountered as an Israeli. He described the lush greenery as striking and the air as crisp and clean. When they revealed they were from Israel, they received messages of empathy and solidarity, with locals emphasizing shared humanity despite political differences. Shlmor returned to Israel shortly before the Yom Kippur fast, feeling refreshed and reflecting on the importance of embracing new experiences and surrounding oneself with positive influences.
