Maccabi Haifa Amputee Football Team Travels to Romania for Inaugural EAFF Conference League

The Maccabi Haifa amputee football team has departed for Romania to compete in the first-ever EAFF Conference League tournament. The competition is hosted by Steaua Bucharest at their facilities.

The team comprises players who are amputees due to injuries sustained during military service, survivors of the Nova music festival attack, and victims of road accidents. Among the players is Ben Benjamin, who previously played in lower leagues.

Maccabi Haifa will commence the tournament on Thursday at 11:00 AM local time against Panathinaikos of Greece. Later that day, at 4:00 PM, they will face Steaua Bucharest. On Friday, the team is scheduled to play against Scotland's Celtic.

Team captain Tzach Shahar expressed his pride, stating, "As captain of the Maccabi Haifa amputee team, it is a great honor to participate in the first ever 'Conference League' tournament. This tournament is an important milestone for amputee football in Europe and for us as a club. We arrive with aspirations, respect for our opponents, and pride in representing the club and our country."

Head coach Sharon Paz added, "For Maccabi Haifa, participating in this tournament is much more than a competition, it is about development, gaining experience, and making history. Competing against clubs from Romania, Scotland, and Greece demonstrates how much the sport of amputee football is growing, and we are proud to be part of this journey."
