Hamas Denies Israeli Claims of Plotting Hostage-Taking
Hamas representatives have denied accusations made by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz that the organization is planning to abduct Israeli soldiers and civilians. Katz had warned during a memorial ceremony for fallen soldiers of the Yom Kippur War that if an abduction occurred, all residents of Gaza City would be evacuated south, and the city would suffer the fate of Rafah or Beit Hanoun.
In interviews with Al-Arabi TV, Hamas spokespeople stated that the group is not preparing any operations to abduct Israelis. Instead, they accused Israel of preparing a new attack on civilian and government facilities in the Gaza Strip.
Hamas called for an investigation into Israel's claims and reiterated its commitment to a ceasefire agreement. They urged mediators to pressure Israel.
