Hamas Denies Plotting Kidnappings, Cites Ceasefire Commitment

Senior Hamas officials have denied Israeli claims that the organization is preparing to abduct Israeli soldiers, according to a report by "Al-Arabi" Qatari television. The denial comes in response to statements made by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, who warned that the city of Gaza would be evacuated southward if an Israeli citizen or soldier were kidnapped. Hamas sources stated that these Israeli threats are intended to pave the way for a broad military operation in the Gaza Strip, alleging that Israel is preparing for aggression that includes attacks on civilian and governmental infrastructure. In light of these accusations, Hamas called for the establishment of an international committee to verify Israel's claims.

Despite the denials, the organization reiterated its commitment to the existing ceasefire agreement and urged mediating parties to pressure Israel to prevent further escalation. The report also noted a separate incident where the Shin Bet arrested a Bedouin from southern Israel on suspicion of identifying with Hamas.
